Can overseas visitors complete this online training course?
This will depend on the type of visa that you have.
For example restrictions apply to international visitors that hold a student visa. Any course undertaken by a student visa holder must be conducted by a provider who is registered on CRICOS. As Allens Training is not CRICOS approved we are unable to accept enrolments into any of our course from any international visitor that holds a student VISA.
International visitors who hold a Working Holiday VISA may be eligible to enrol into our online course once they arrive in Australia. This is important as some occupations in Australia will have legislative and/or licencing requirements relating to qualifications. International visitors will still be required to provide a valid USI (Unique Student Identifier) prior to enrolling into any nationally recognised training. When registering for your USI number if you select Non-Australian Passport (with Australian Visa) as your form of ID, you will need to enter tour Non-Australian passport number when creating your USI. The following details on the passport must match in order to verify in the USI registry system:
Date of Birth
Country of Passport
Students from New Zealand will not be able to create a USI using their New Zealand passport until their passport has been registered with the Australian Department of Immigration. This will only happen when the student crosses the border into Australia. Once the passport is registered with the Department of Immigration it can be verified and the student will be able to create a USI using their New Zealand passport.
Practical Assessment Interview
This course requires you to book and complete a live online interview session with an approved Assessor in which you must demonstrate putting on personal protective equipment. It is a Training Package requirement that this interview is conducted and all Registered Training Organisations must adhere to these requirements for this course.
This interview will be conducted live and will take only 15 minutes. The interview is to be completed in English and will be recorded.
Please be sure to carefully read all instructions regarding the Practical Assessment Interview before booking your timeslot for the interview to ensure that you are ready.
To help you prepare for the interview, there is a revision module contained within the course. There is also a printable workbook that you may like to download and use to prepare some responses to commonly asked questions similar to those that may be asked at the interview.
IMPORTANT: For the live interview you will require the following equipment:
- Hard hat (must be a construction hard hat – cannot be substituted with bicycle helmet etc)
- Protective glasses or goggles
- Earmuffs or earplugs
- High visibility retro reflective vest
Please make sure that you have all of these items on hand before you book your interview session.
During the Practical Assessment Interview you will be required to physically demonstrate how to put on the eye protection, hearing protection, high visibility retro reflective vest and hard hat. You will need to put each of those items on and make adjustments so that it fits correctly.
If you book your interview but do not have the required equipment, your interview will be cancelled and you may have to pay a re-booking fee to reschedule another interview.
What can you do if you do not have own or have access to this equipment?
You can either borrow the items or buy the equipment required from any hardware store, such as Bunnings or Mitre 10.
